Tom Nichols recent article in The Atlantic, The World No Longer Takes Trump Seriously, is seriously good. He points out how Putin humiliated Trump by showing “no interest in negotiation” and declined “a carefully planned lunch” then flew home and increased his bombing of Ukraine. China, Russia and North Korea thumbed their military power in Trump’s face in a military parade attended by the Prime Minister of India, Marendra Modi, once an ally of the United States now pushed away by our very stable genius of a leader who put tariffs on India of 50%. President Trump was not invited and his response was to go on social media and whine about it.
It’s not only the Axis of Evil leaders that no longer take President Trump seriously. European leaders have learned from the President’s own cabinet and the AI techno-fascists that are consolidating their control over America how to get what they want from the President. Compliment him, fawn over him in public and his compliance with your wishes will be forthcoming.
The recent Senate hearing fiasco with our well endowed and ill equipped Secretary of Health and Human Services, RFK Jr., is yet another example of our President’s feckless cabinet appointments as if one is needed after his Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, discussed military plans over an insecure phone app while our “director of national intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, is spending her time trying to root out the spies she thinks hate the president.”
Even a few Republicans according to Politico are starting to understand that things are not going well. They are beginning to speak out. Senators Bill Cassidy and John Barrasso confronted RFK Jr. about his leadership at the recent hearing. The Epstein case is “tearing apart MAGA’s conspiracy wing” according to the BBC. The recent “anemic jobs report spurs economic concerns.”
Perhaps we should have listened better to Kamala Harris at the Democratic Convention a few months ago. Oh well, buck up buttercup. Time to pull your big boy pants up and get to work.
Rupert’s golem now runs free…
Ha! Yes it does.
