“As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.” H.L. Mencken

Roy’s napkin art is legendary among the quickly diminishing Sea Gull Cellar Bar crowd.  Working in the early 80s, his prescient political mind discerned that a Trump-like leader was inevitable in America.  Human nature changes at a snail’s pace.  We still exhibit the same flaws of the ancient Greeks and Romans. Whether he knew much about Donald Trump at the time, I know not.  Those were the years when Trump was enjoying the benefits of over indebtedness and bankruptcy and by stiffing bankers, suppliers, and workers.  Those were the years when he was creating his misleading glitzy image while honing the racist fascist ideas that he understood rightly would appeal to an American audience beyond the shining city upon a hill.

It’s Think in the Morning’s idea, not Roy’s, to use one whimsical series of his napkin art to celebrate the Trump years.  The napkins speak for themselves so they are presented below without further comment.  Enjoy.
