From Foreign Policy Morning Brief: Top news: The Russian military announced it was ready to pursue agreements reached by U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin “in the sphere of international security” during their meeting in Helsinki — though the White House and Pentagon could not confirm any agreements had actually been made.

The two leaders met for around two hours on Monday with only translators present. It is still not clear what exactly the two men discussed during their time together. The National Security Council has so far not confirmed the details, and a spokesperson told CNN that they were still “reviewing the discussion.”

In contrast, Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov, a Russian military spokesperson, said in a statement that, “The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation is ready for practical implementation of the agreements reached.”

According to Konashenkov, the Russian military is also “ready to intensify contacts with U.S. colleagues in the General Staff and other available channels” to discuss the extension of the START arms control treaty, cooperation in Syria, and other issues of military security.

Yep, they’re working on that new “space force”. I knew it.
